JOE Devance will be out for the next two weeks due to a plantar fasciitis on his right foot, Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone said on Sunday.
Devance was in street clothes during Barangay Ginebra’s 100-97 win over Phoenix Pulse on Sunday. Cone said the injury is not in the same foot that Devance had problems in the past.
“He is going to be out at least two weeks,” said Cone.
Cone said Devance had to lose weight in order to prevent another recurrence of the injury in the future.
“He is doing a good job. He lost a lot of weight over the last few weeks and that takes some of the pressure off his foot,” said Cone.
With Devance out, Cone hopes for other guys to step up as the Gin Kings make their final push in the elimination round.
“We hope it’s only a couple of weeks, could be longer. But in the meantime, guys like Jervy (Cruz) and Aljon (Mariano) have to step up, that’s for sure,” said Cone.
