DESPITE putting up a triple-double, Elijah Millsap felt he didn’t contribute enough especially early in San Miguel Beer’s 115-108 loss to Ginebra in Game One of their PBA Governors’ Cup semifinal series.
The SMB import tallied 29 points, 14 boards, and 11 assists on top of two steals in almost 44 minutes of play, but he scored just five points in the first quarter where the locals picked up the slack.
“I think I picked it up too late,” Millsap said. “I take the blame in the first half, so next game I’m going to be more aggressive in the first half.”
“My teammates came out shooting the lights out, they played amazing,” he added. “I never played amazing but it's all good, it's a series.”
The three-year NBA campaigner took over in the second half, where he scored 18, but it appeared to backfire for the Beermen, who allowed the Gin Kings to erase a 13-point lead.
“I got to do my work, watch film a little bit more, sit down with the coaches a little bit more, and do the hardest as I can to try to help this team out,” Millsap said.
