PAUL Desiderio is happy to call Blackwater his home.
In limbo since NLEX took him at No. 4 overall in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft on Sunday, the Cebuano guard heaved a sigh of relief as he joined his new squad on Wednesday at Reyes Gym in Mandaluyong.
"Sobrang saya ko na may team na dito sa Blackwater. Gagawin ko ang best para makatulong ako sa kanila," said Desiderio, who was shipped by NLEX together with fellow first-rounder Abu Tratter to the Elite in exchange for JP Erram.
The deal has yet to be approved by the Office of the Commissioner, but Desiderio is already starting to get comfortable in his new team.
This early, the University of the Philippines Maroons hero is looking forward to bringing his magic to Blackwater, especially as it builds a young and exciting crew for the 2019 PBA season.
"Masaya ako kasi lahat naman dito sa team, nakatapak sila ng PBA kaya talagang magagaling. Gagawin ko lang ang lahat ng makakaya ko para makasabay sa kanila," he said.
Desiderio won't be that much of a stranger at Blackwater, with former UP teammate Diego Dario also in the team, as well as familiar foes-turned-now teammates in Mac Belo and Raymar Jose of FEU, and Roi Sumang, Chris Javier, Renz Palma, and Dan Alberto of UE.
"Masaya ako na may kakilala din ako dito. Nakakatulong sila kaya hindi na rin ako masyadong nahihiya," he said.
