JUST like everybody else this holiday season, former PBA import Denzel Bowles has his own Christmas wish list.
Bowles expressed his wish for a return stint to Asia's first ever play-for-pay league, but his choice of team to play for is quite the Christmas shocker.
The former Best Import awardee has TnT Katropa on top of the short, three-team list that conspicuously excludes his former team Star.
The 27-year-old native of Virginia Beach made the disclosure in his Twitter account @Denzel_Bowles, which has 60.6k followers so far. He also used the hashtag #PBATalk.
Santa ????????My Wish List is 1. Talk n Talk 2.Ginebra 3. San Mig Beerman!! #PBATalk ??????????????????????????— D.Bowles (@Denzel_Bowles) December 24, 2016
Bowles, who only suited up for the Purefoods franchise in the four times he played in the country, named Barangay Ginebra as his no. 2 choice followed by San Miguel.
Asked later by a follower why the team where he won his first and only PBA championship during the 2012 Commissioner's Cup was left out, the alumnus of James Madison University said his stint with Purefoods is over.
'I'm done with Stars," he replied, then added the hashtag #NewChapter.
Bowles listing Ginebra at no. 2 is understandable. Tim Cone now calls the shots for the Kings, the same mentor with whom the import won a league title four years ago as a young 23-year-old cager against, ironically, the same Talk N Text team he now wishes to join.
Bowles was best remembered for the two clutch free throws he nailed in the final 1.2 seconds of Game 7 that sent the game into overtime. B-Meg won the match, 90-84, as the league's Best Import finished with 39 points and 21 rebounds.
He never got to replicate the same success he had in his succeeding tour of duty with the team.
Bowles returned and played for Star in last year's Commissioner's Cup but never completed his stint as he returned back to the US midway through the tournament to attend to family matters.
