PUREFOODS has nothing to worry about as import Denzel Bowles only suffered a mere bruised left knee in the Hotshots’ dramatic triple overtime victory over Talk ‘N Text in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Saturday night in Davao City.
“Wala namang problema, most likely bruised lang kasi nagkatuhuran,” team physiotherapist Nick Ocampo related to Spin.ph shortly after the thrilling game at the jampacked USEP gym.
Bowles collided with Talk ‘N Text rookie forward Matt Ganuelas-Rosser during the first overtime period and spent the rest of the match hobbling on the floor.
The 6-foot-9 import actually sat out the first two and a half minutes of the first extra period after being attended to by Purefoods team doctors.
But the moment he came back, the former Best Import put on a gutsy performance, hitting big shots one after the other to carry the defending champions to a nail-biting 118-117 win.
Ocampo said they intend to ice Bowles’ left knee for the rest of the evening to ensure he recovers fast before flying back to Manila on Sunday.
“We just wanna make sure he recovers lang. But most likely, ice yan all night long,” added the soft-spoken PT.
The former James Madison University standout dropped a game-high 30 points, including 11 during the three extra periods, to go along with 15 rebounds, six assists and four blocks as the Hotshots tied the Tropang Texters at second place with similar 6-3 cards.
