DENZEL Bowles gets his third chance in the Philippines as import for Rain or Shine in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
ROS coach Caloy Garcia confirmed the development on Wednesday.
"Yes, kay Bowles kami," he said.
The 30-year-old is set to arrive next wek, giving him a shot at redemption after a falling out with TNT cut short a unceremonious PBA comeback in 2017.
Bowles, of course, is best remembered as a former Best Import awardee back in the 2012 Commissioner's Cup when he led the B-Meg Llamados (now-Magnolia Hotshots) to the title past Talk 'N Text in seven grueling games.
Bowles had two more stints with the Purefoods franchise, his last coming in 2016 before going back to the US to 'attend to family matters.'
The James Madison product didn't have much success outside of Magnolia, getting unceremoniously cut by KaTropa management as both camps swapped accusations.
TNT deemed him "unfit to play" but Bowles accused the team of refusing to pay his salary and "almost stole my game shoes" - claims that were denied by the KaTropa.
Bowles last played for the Kanazawa Samuraiz in the second division of the Japanese B.League, averaging 21.9 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists as his side finished fifth in the Central Division with their 21-39 win-loss record.
Rain or Shine, coming off a semifinal finish in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup after bowing to Magnolia in seven games, earlier declared that one of its former imports, Reggie Johnson, was on top of its short wishlist.
But Garcia is concerned about the fitness of Johnson, who he said hasn't been active for a long time.
With Johnson as import, the Elasto Painters finished the eliminations as the top seed last season before falling to eventual champion Ginebra in the semifinals.
