HE may have played the second fewest games among imports this PBA Commissioner’s Cup, but Denzel Bowles has made the most of his time with Purefoods.
The Hotshots reinforcement, who replaced Daniel Orton and played just five games, emerged the frontrunner for the Best Import of the Conference award after topping the statistical race at the end the eliminations.
Bowles, who won the same plum in the 2012 edition of the midseason tournament, garnered 59.8 statistical points after averaging 33.4 points, 15.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.8 blocks, and .8 steal.
Almost all the imports played more games than Bowles, with Globalport’s Derrick Caracter the only one to have played less with three outings.
Kia giant PJ Ramos, who played all 11 games, finished second with 59.5 SPs after leading the league in points (35.9) and rebounds (21.2), but his chances are little as the Carnival have missed the playoffs, while Wayne Chism of Rain or Shine registered 56.3 SPs after six games.
Talk ‘n Text’s Ivan Johnson rounded out the Top 5 with a 53.2 SPs tally.
Josh Davis of Meralco (48.5), AZ Reid of San Miguel Beer (47.7), Damion James of Alaska (45.9), Marcus Douthit of Blackwater (43), Ginebra’s Michael Dunigan (41.9), and Caracter (33.7) complete the list.
