NICK Demusis is leaving the past behind. What matters is the present.

The Fil-Am forward said he already moved on from the sorry incident he had with former Meralco import Ismael Romero in an international tournament and is now focused on his PBA comeback with Blackwater.

Demusis furthered he's just grateful for the opportunity to be back again and playing in the league after being signed by the Bossing for the season-ending Governors’ Cup.

"In this line of work, second chances don't come very often, especially in the PBA," he admitted.

It's the reason why he'd rather not dwell in the past, especially on the episode between himself and Romero dating back to their stint in the 33rd Dubai International Basketball Tournament early this year.

Then, Romero was with Al Ahli Tripoli and Demusis was tapped by the Zamboanga Valientes.

The Puerto Rican assaulted Demusis during one sequence of the game after the two got entangled in a physical play. Romero was ejected and eventually, suspended for the rest of the tournament.

Demusis and the Valientes formally filed a police complaint in Dubai following the incident.

Shortly after, Romero, a member of the Puerto Rico national team, was supposed to play for the Bolts in the Commissioner's Cup and flew to the Philippines after the second window of the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

But with a looming legal case hovering above his head, he opted not to play for Meralco and left the country without settling the case.

What's done is done

For Demusis, he's leaving everything in the past.

'We just have to move on from there,' he said. "Thankfully, he (Romero) didn't end up playing in the PBA, so we didn't have to see him," said Demusis after playing major minutes in Blackwater's 89-81 win over Magnolia Friday night at the Ninoy Aquno Stadium.

"That's all behind me, just thankful to be here with Blackwater and thankful to the coaching staff and management for giving me the chance this conference."
