GLOBALPORT star Gary David said he is skipping Smart Gilas 2.0‘s stint in an international tournamnt in Dubai next month but promised to be availble for the national team in succeeding tournaments once he completes his foot therapy.
David joined the national team's first practice on Friday at the Meralco gym but has already told Gilas coach Chot Reyes that he won’t be joining the team in the Dubai International tournament to undergo month-long therapy on nagging injury on his left foot.
But once his therapy is done, he hopes to join the team in the Hong Kong international basketball tournament from January 22-27. The Dubai tourney is set from January 10-19.
Siyempre, ayaw na nating lumalala kaya magte-therapy muna ako," he said.
The Dinalupihan, Bataan native was one of only a handful of PBA players who showed up Friday night, with other pro league stars like Arwind Santos and June Mar Fajardo snubbing the invitation to suit up for the national team.
Other pro players who showed up were Ronjay Buenafe, Jay-R Reyes, and KG Canaleta.
So di na mahirap mag-adjust,” added David.
