DAVE Murrell is back in the active roster of Magnolia as injuries hound two key players in its PBA Philippine Cup campaign.
The All-Star dunk champion was activated to fill the spot of veteran forward Rome Dela Rosa, who was relegated in the injury/reserved list.
Dela Rosa hurts ankle
Dela Rosa hurt his ankle in the Hotshots’ debut game against Converge FiberXers three weeks ago.
He is joined on the sidelines by gunner Aris Dionisio, who sprained his ankle during practice on Good Friday.
Fresh from his first All-Star game, Dionisio showed up in a walking boot during the Barangay Ginebra-Magnolia Manila Clasico game which he and Dela Rosa missed.
Dela Rosa is averaging 8.0 points, 1.0 rebound, and 2,0 assists in the conference, while Dionisio is contributing 2.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in longer minutes than Dela Rosa.
Murrell returns to action
Murrell will be seeing action for the first time this conference after being on the injured/reserved list since January, sitting out the Commissioner’s Cup finals against San Miguel.
The same injury has kept Murrell grounded for the All-Star game festivities, where he was the reigning champion in the Slam Dunk contest which unfortunately, wasn’t held in this year’s edition in Bacolod City.
Murrell will be eligible to play for the Hotshots on Saturday against NLEX Road Warriors at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium where the team will also miss the services of suspended forward Calvin Abueva.
The Commissioner's Office suspended Abueva for a game and fined P20,000 for flashing an obscene gesture at a fan in ringside during the Magnolia-Ginebra game.
