DAVE Marcelo was slapped a P20,000 fine for the flagrant foul penalty 2 infraction he committed against Christian Standhardinger on Sunday during Game Three of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals series between Phoenix and defending champion San Miguel.
The fine was handed on Monday shortly after Marcelo personally appeared before the Commissioner's office at the league headquarter in Libis, Quezon City.
The bruising Phoenix big man, however, escaped suspension, making him available for Game Four on Tuesday at the Astrodome.
Marcelo committed the FFP2 early in the second quarter after he whacked a driving Standhandinger hard to the face that led to his ejection.
The Fuel Masters went on to win the game, 92-90, to cut the series deficit to 1-2.
The FFP2 called on Marcelo was the second to be called in the highly-physical series.
Standhardinger was also whistled for the same infraction following the incident between him and Calvin Abueva in Game Two of the series.
Abueva was likewise fined P15K for gesturing a dirty finger sign at the cameras, while Doug Kramer was hit with a 5K penalty for the flagrant foul on San Miguel's June Mar Fajardo.
