DARIUS Days has tough acts to follow as he takes on the role of TNT import in the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup.

The 26-year-old Days is playing in the Governors’ Cup in lieu of former NBA player and three-time PBA Best Import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who is still recovering from an Achilles tear that he suffered while playing for Meralco in the EASL.

Just last conference, TNT made headlines when it signed Bol Bol for the Commissioner’s Cup to bolster its bid for a championship, but the 7-foot-3 former NBA player later tore his Achilles heel at the semifinal stage.

The Tropang 5G replaced Bol with Chris McCullough but still lost to Barangay Ginebra in seven games in the finals.

The 6-foot-7 Days said he is not out here to replicate RHJ and Bol, as he is here to chip in to TNT’s title bid.

“Honestly, I’m Darius,” Days said. “I’m not Bol. I’m not Rondae. Whatever I bring to the table, that’s what I bring to the table.”

Days was supposed to play for TNT as early as the 2024 Governors’ Cup but was later replaced by Hollis-Jefferson before the conference started.

Through two games with the Tropang 5G, Days is averaging 22 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals. Days has also shown his ability to shoot from the outside with eight threes on 35 percent shooting from distance.

“I’m just here to help,” Days said. “I’m not here to fill those shoes. I’m just here to help win games.”

TNT is off to a shaky start to the Governors’ Cup, losing to cellar-dweller Titan Ultra, 103-87, last Wednesday. Days admitted injuries have impacted the team.

“When we get those guys back, we’re going to be an even greater team. We’ve got a lot of room for improvement… We’re just trying to find that good chemistry. Then, when they come back, we can wrap it all together,” Days said.
