THE reunion of the two Dannys - Seigle and Ildefonso - may yet happen at Blackwater.
Hope of the two veteran stars rekindling their iconic partnership was raised under a proposed three-team trade that will finally see rookie guard Kevin Alas complete his move from NLEX to sister team Talk 'N Text.
Under the proposal that is still being discussed at posting time, Blackwater will kick off the transaction by acquiring the the 38-year-old Seigle for promising rookie guard Brian Heruela.
Additional players are expected to be thrown into the mix in a trade that will end with Alas, acquired by NLEX from Rain or Shine in exchange for its 2015 first-round pick, going to Talk 'N Text and Nino Canaleta going to NLEX.
“That’s part of the plan, it’s been there for three weeks now. We’re just waiting for the perfect timing to execute the deal. We’re still talking to Blackwater,” said the source.
The series of moves will see Seigle bolstering Blackwater, which still holds the rights to Ildefonso after picking up the two-time league MVP from the dispersal draft.
Ildefonso, 37, and Seigle played together at San Miguel Beer before the team decided to break up its aging core with the controversial trade of Dondon Hontiveros, Dorian Pena and Seigle to Air21 Express in 2011.
There's just one hitch to the reunion, though.
Ildefonso has yet to sign a new contract with Blackwater after rejecting a two-year deal offered by team owner Dioceldo Sy worth P225,000 a month.
However, some team officials expressed hope that the impending arrival of Seigle may help convince Ildefonso to sign with the Elite.
Another source ruled out a reunion for the two Dannys at Talk 'N Text, which is now coached by their longtime mentor at San Miguel Beer, Jong Uichico.
“Hindi. Dun sila ni Danny S sa Blackwater,” said the source.
