CYRUS Baguio bared NLEX could hold a players-only meeting in the next few days to address what’s gone wrong in a tailspin in the PBA Philippine Cup.
After a promising 2-0 start to the season, the Road Warriors have lost their next four games, the latest a 97-86 defeat at the hands of Rain or Shine on Friday night that put their playoff bid in peril.
“Baka kailangan namin mag-usap-usap as players, kasi hindi na maganda yung nangyayari sa team namin ngayon eh,” Baguio said after emerging from the dugout following a long talk with coach Yeng Guiao.
“Siguro one of these days, baka may meeting kaming players,” he added.
Asked if he will initiate the meeting, the 37-year-old Baguio answered in the positive, but will also ask his fellow elder statesmen to air their thoughts.
“Siguro kausapin ko rin yung ibang veterans, hindi naman pwedeng hayaan lang namin yung ganito,” the 15-year veteran said. “Kailangan namin mag-wake up sa ganitong sitwasyon.”
A consolation for Baguio was his second steal of the night that moved him into the Top 10 in the all-time steals list, past Willy Generalao (639) and second among active players behind LA Tenorio (668).
Baguio collected three steals in all to increase his tally to 641, completing his performance of nine points on 4-of-8 shooting, five boards, three assists, and one block.
