MIKEY Williams playing in the PBA in a Converge uniform is not a done deal yet. Although he has been traded to the FiberXers who now own his rights after the player's long and bitter squabble with TNT, the matter of compensation remains to be settled.
It was this matter, the question of how much Williams should be paid, that exiled Williams for over two years, leaving the Fil-Am's basketball career in limbo before it came to an end on Monday following the PBA's approval of the deal that also sent Jordan Heading to TNT.

William's signing rights was the only one on the table and Converge has now inherited the negotiation with the player who some sources at TNT said was "asking for the moon" before their talks broke down.
Whether Converge will give Williams the "moon" plus other planets will be known soon as Converge is racing against time to sign the 33-year-old Williams who has been holed up in his Los Angeles lair waiting to consider the new PBA team's offer.
Converge team governor Archen Cayabyab revealed that no less than team owner Dennis Anthony Uy will lead the negotiations and plans to do it fast as they hope to have him in the playoffs, if possible.
The reason for the hurry is because PBA teams have only until noon of June 16 to make changes to their playoff lineups.
“Si Sir Dennis Anthony Uy, he will be handling the negotiations of Mikey Williams,” Cayabyab told SPIN.ph on Monday.
Following news of the trade between TNT and Converge, Williams posted an Instagram story of him working out, maybe to assure his new team that he is in shape and ready to play.
Cayabyab said the team hasn’t spoken to Williams, the No. 4 pick in the 2020 draft, yet especially since the trade only became official on Monday.
“Gusto ko siyang kausapin pero siguro mas maganda kung si Sir Dennis Anthony Uy talaga ang magha-handle ng negotiations,” said Cayabyab.
