CHICAGO — Finally, mercifully, the 34 days of agony in the PBA are over for Converge.
In a show of might emblematic of their glitzy, All-Star-studded roster, the FiberXers ended their five-game losing streak on Tuesday.

After outlasting Macau,102-94, last March 11, the FiberXers went into a funk that put their playoffs drive in doubt.
But after peeling that huge monkey off their back, some hope has emerged.
NEW LEASE ON LIFE.
Their second win in the ongoing PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup has given Converge a second wind.
And just like that, the math needed to reach the postseason is doable, assuming they handle their business moving forward.
As of Tuesday night, the team standings reflect that 0-7 Macau and 1-6 Blackwater are out of the playoffs picture.
This means three more will be cut from the Top Eight that will make the postseason.
THE CHASE IS ON.
At 2-5, Converge doesn’t have much chasing to do against the teams ahead of them — Titan (2-4), San Miguel (3-4), Magnolia (3-4), Terrafirma (3-4) and Phoenix (3-3).
My guess is that Titan and Terrafirma will eventually get eliminated, leaving Converge a decent shot at a quarterfinals berth.
Again, this is all contingent on Converge not shooting itself in the foot, which they’ve done several times during their losing streak where they squandered leads.
After a lukewarm start, the FiberXers, behind Justine Arana’s team-high 19 points, erupted for 31 in the second quarter and built a 22-point lead that they never relinquished.
The FiberXers hit 40 of 84 field goals and 10 of 25 treys. They controlled the boards, 52-48, and manufactured 25 assists in a bakanced attack.
If they can do this consistently, the possibilities are limitless.
