JAYSON David has been providing a big lift for Barangay Ginebra off the bench and Sunday was no exception.
David contributed 12 points, three rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and two blocks in 27:25 minutes off the bench in the Gin Kings’ 105-91 win over San Miguel in Game Four of their PBA 50th Season Philippine Cup semifinal playoff.

David’s efforts throughout this best-of-seven series has been a big shot in the arm for Ginebra against San Miguel, a team that led the league in bench points during the eliminations.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone lauded the performance of David after he bounced back from a six-point performance in Game 3.
“I had a short conversation with Jayson before the game. I just told him that he’s got to let the game come to him a little bit,” said Cone.
“Sometimes, he gets so excited and plays a little bit beyond himself. But when he allows himself the game to come to him, he is so dynamic,” said Cone.
Butler comparisons
Cone even compares David’s play to the qualities of a current NBA star.
“I always tell him that he reminds me of Jimmy Butler and the kind of game he plays,” said Cone, comparing David’s skillset to the former Miami Heat star who is now with the Golden State Warriors.
“He is wide-bodied, can play bigger than he is, and very versatile. I know Jimmy Butler well. I follow the Miami Heat so closely. He is always reminded me of Jimmy way back when. Now, he is getting an opportunity to show that, at this point.”
“He is not as good as Jimmy Butler. Relative to our league, he plays a similar type of game,” said Cone.
