TIM Cone was straight to the point about Barangay Ginebra losing Game 2 to San Miguel Beer in their PBA Philippine Cup semifinals series.
“No, not tonight,” said the Ginebra mentor when asked if there are any positive takeaways from the Kings’ 93-84 loss on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum that levelled the best-of-seven series at 1-1.

Cone described the Kings play as ‘uncharacteristic' for a team that strung together eight straight wins dating back to the eliminations all the way to the opener of the semifinals just three nights ago.
And Ginebra’s bench didn’t answer the call this time after scoring 54 points in a 99-90 Game 1 win.
“It’s not just a good performance out of us. Uncharacteristic of how we’ve been playing the last couple of months,” said Cone, noting how the Kings allowed the defending champion Beermen to score 60 points in the second half.

The concurrent Gilas Pilipinas coach also called out the Ginebra bench, which was held to 37 points in Game 2.
“We didn’t do well tonight. Nobody from our bench played well tonight. That’s kind of typical with benches – they’re be great one night and maybe not be there on the second night,” added Cone.
With the series now down to a best-of-five, Cone said the Kings need to regroup especially after dominating the first half that saw them take the lead, 42-34.
“We’ll compete with them (Beermen) on the third night. It’s a seven-game series,” said Cone. “We have to regroup and see if we could regroup quickly and be back and get this thing going in Game 3."
