BARANGAY Ginebra coach Tim Cone believes Justin Brownlee’s performance on Sunday night against Magnolia was nothing short of Jordanesque.
Brownlee lit up for a career-high 49 points while grabbing 20 rebounds to help the Kings complete an emphatic 102-81 victory over the Hotshots and seal a place in the PBA Commissioner's Cup playoffs.
“What can you say about Justin. If that’s not an MJ performance tonight, I’ve never seen an MJ performance," said Cone, referrring to Michael Jordan.
Brownlee was unstoppable on Sunday, shooting 18 of 24 from the field and 6-of-9 from three-point land in a performance that reminded Cone of all the games he watched Jordan play back in the nineties.
“All the MJ performances, I’ve seen through the years, and I tell you, I watched every Bulls game on tape at the time. That’s one of MJ’s greatest games right there expect that it was Justin’s body doing the thing,” Cone said.
“Really amazing play by him,” said Cone.
Told about Cone’s statements, Brownlee was quick to play down the comparison.
“It’s a great complement and comparison. I definitely appreciate it. But man, that’s a bad man to be compared. I just really appreciate it. Just take the complement,” said Cone.
