CHICAGO- Like any league where testosterone is abundant ights happen all the time in the PBA.

But never this big in scale, personality and star power.

Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao versus SMC sports director and concurrent Ginebra governor Alfrancis Chua is a promoter’s dream.

Just ask the bloggers who have been flooding social media with content since the feud erupted roughly 24 hours ago.

Here’s a quick summary of what went down.

LEAVE THE REFS ALONE

While Game Four of the testy RoS-Ginebra series played out, Guiao wasn’t amused that Chua was talking to the refs.

Chua snapped backed and essentially told Guiao to stick to coaching and mind his own business.

According to Guiao, he was called “ul-l” while Chua accused coach Yeng as more menacing to the referees.

“Mas grabe siya mang intimidate.”

The best judge of Guiao’s threat level are the refs, and they’re more tight-lipped than a state witness.

When Guiao gives refs the death stare, eyes burning like the sun and imaginary knives hurtling, he does look scary.

CARELESS WHISPERS

But the former congressman, although not a toothless tiger, is not mean that way.

He’s more like a parent who scolds an errant child and does so with volume and the occasional expletives to point out the mistake.

I don’t think any referee had ever left an arena looking over his shoulder after being yelled at by Guiao.

But here’s why Alfrancis can be more “intimidating.”

Chua is the most powerful man in the PBA, a team governor and league vice chairman.

He can, and I’m not saying he’s done it or will ever do it, suspend and terminate a game official.

That’s why Guiao would rather see Boss Al planted on his courtside seat instead of chatting with the men and women in zebra stripes.

This Guiao-Chua verbal spat is a good fight that airs long-held grievances with both parties wanting no ham in protecting their respective teams’ interests.

That’s why Kume Willie Marcial is mum on the issue.

Just like us, he is probably enjoying this, eating popcorn while watching the TV ratings soar.
