CHICAGO — The mystery behind the Barangay Ginebra replacement import for Justin Brownlee has a name.
Riley Grigsby.
“He’s 26 years old and had NBA G League experience. He came with some strong recommendations with his coaches there. We’re excited about working with him,” coach Tim Cone said in a message.
While the proof ultimately lies in the pudding, Grigsby look like the real deal credential-wise.

Undrafted in the NBA in 2023, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound small forward starred at Seattle University where he scored 1,501 points to finish 11th all-time in school history.
Before transferring to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the San Jose, California native spent the 2025-26 NBA G League season Santa Cruz Warriors where he averaged 4.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in 20 games.
“Riley arrives Friday morning Manila time,” Cone said.
The hope is that his size 13 shoes is large enough to mimic JB’s footsteps.
IT’S STILL BROWNLEE’S HOUSE
It’s unclear how long Riley will rep Ginebra, or if he’ll stay even after Brownlee’s return, just as a precaution.
“You’re forcing me to look into my crystal ball, and it looks foggy at this point. Let’s see how everything plays out, but for now, when Justin is ready to play, he’ll play,” Cone said.

Cone will remain in Las Vegas for the NBA Summer League until the 14th of July before meandering his way back to the Gin Kings sidelines in time for their Governors' Cup debut against Phoenix Super LPG on July 19.
“I never miss games, and very rarely, practices.”
Some view that dedication as a habit. I see it as a champion’s work ethic.
