ANTIPOLO CITY—Columbian just has Rain or Shine’s number this season.

The Dyip beat the Elastopainters, 100-84, in stunning fashion on Friday to pick up their first win in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Center.

Akeem Wright, Jerramy King, Rashad McCarthy, and Ronald Tubid led Columbian’s attack as the Dyip finally notched a win after going 0-9 to start the conference. They also swept their season series against Rain or Shine this year.

The win broke all losing streaks that Columbian had owned—an 11-game slide in the 2018 season and a 25-game skid in the Governors’ Cup.

“Pagpasok ko dito, hindi ako sanay,” said Columbian coach Johnedel Cardel upon entering the press room. “Nakatanggal ng tinik sa dibdib. Hindi na ako sanay manalo.”

Wright had 23 points and 12 rebounds, while King had 18 points including seven in the first quarter that saw the Dyip take a 20-6 lead to start the game.

Columbian broke the game wide open in the fourth with King scoring a lay-up to increase the Dyip’s lead to 91-70, the biggest in the game.
