COLE Micek is trying out for a slot with Blackwater after becoming a rookie free agent.

The No. 34 pick in the Season 50 Draft was left unsigned by Rain or Shine, relegating him to the free agent list.

After the Elasto Painters, Micek found himself trying out with San Miguel, but was unsuccessful in his bid for a spot with the stacked Beermen squad.

This time, Micek will be looking to make it to the Blackwater roster.

“I got released by Rain or Shine after a week of practice. After Rain or Shine, I tried out with San Miguel Beermen. But I think they had the Fil-foreigner cap. They really liked me but they couldn’t get me from there,” said Micek.

“Now, I’ve been practicing with Blackwater recently,” he added.

Micek was spotted seated at the Blackwater bench during its tune-up game against Converge at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong City on Saturday.

Micek said he is working his best in order to get the nod of the Bossing.

“Working really hard, grinding, living it up to God, and whatever happens, happens. Whatever team gets me, I’ll be happy to be on. Happy to give them lots of good energy, be a good teammate. Pero we’ll see. Just training hard and living it up to God. A lot of things are out of my control. Just really working hard right now,” said Micek.

Aside from Blackwater, Micek said he is already looking at other options if ever the PBA bid doesn’t pan out.

“Blackwater has been good. Good practice. I had some really good practices with them. That’s all I can really do. Work my tail off and leave it out there on the floor. The rest is out of my control," Micek said.

“My agent is also working at it, discussing future plans. Whether I can’t play in the PBA, maybe join other leagues. We will see."

Micek said he is thankful to Rain or Shine, the team that drafted him, for the opportunity to play in the PBA when he was selected in the third round.

“It was great. I love their system. Coach Yeng is great. Everybody is awesome. They were welcoming to me. I really felt like my skillset fit their system pero they have a lot of guards," he said.

"Plus they added Stanley Pringle. I wish them all the best. They were nice to me but it didn’t work out, and be with them this upcoming season."
