RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao believes his team has finally found the right import in Pierre Henderson-Niles despite his sluggish debut in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup in their 118-107 win over Blackwater on Sunday.

Henderson-Niles, the E-Painters fourth import this conference, contributed just 12 points on nine attempts, six rebounds, and one block in 25 minutes as he huffed and puffed throughout the game and suffered from cramps just a day after arriving from the US.

“I think the potential is there,” Guiao said. “The upside is good. We have a week to get him into game shape and jell him with the team. He’s a solid player. I like his post presence.”

“We will have a match against the bigger imports now, so defensively, he’s there to provide us that matchup, which we did not have without him,” he added.

Guiao even said Henderson-Niles burly frame belied his quickness.

“He’s really quick for his size,” the ROS mentor said. “He’s a little deceptive because you might think he’s slow, but he’s not that slow.

“And we want an import who can run with us,” he added. “Running game is really our game. We just need him running up and down the court and be able to keep pace with us.”

Henderson-Niles vowed to get in better shape as the days go by.

“We got a week off and do a lot of practice, get a chance to get in shape before the playoffs,” the 28-year-old cager said.
