GINEBRA coach Tim Cone opened the door for the return of Othyus Jeffers as possible replacement for injured Paul Harris in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Jeffers suited up for the Gin Kings in the Commissioner’s Cup and was supposed to be back for the season-ending conference, but the plan didn’t push through.

But with current import Harris suffering a fractured thumb right in thei team's opening game of the tournament on Saturday night against GlobalPort, Cone entertained the prospect of reviving their shelved plan to bring back Jeffers.

“That'll be certainly a possibility if necessary,” the league’s most successful coach said.

“But we don't know what he's been doing for the last month or so, if he's in shape or whatever,” he was quick to add as he answered a query by chief league statistician Fidel Mangonon III in the post-game interview about what happened to the original plan on Jeffers. “We'll have to take a look.”

Cone admitted he went all in with Harris, who has trained with team for a month now.

“It seemed like a perfect situation, us and him,” the American coach said of the former TNT import. “He's such a great energy guy. And I've always felt that’s one thing we've always lacked since I've taken over at Ginebra…We're gonna miss that if we lose him.”

“I have nobody as a backup right now,” he added. “It's back to the drawing board…We have to huddle our heads with management and figure that out.”
