SAN Miguel Beer has holes its cloak of invincibility – TNT Katropa just has to look harder.
The Beermen seek to keep their offensive dominance that could hide their minimal flaws on defense as they go for a 2-0 lead against the Texters in their PBA Philippine Cup semifinals series on Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Despite cruising to a 13-point win in Game One on Wednesday night, SMB coach Leo Austria insisted his team still has some aspects they can work ahead of the 7 p.m. face-off.
“Maraming butas na meron kami and maswerte lang kami at hindi pa nakikita nila,” Austria said. “It's up to them. Makikita naman sa tape kung ano ang ginagawa.”
“In a season, more or less you know kung anong ginagawa ng kalaban mo lahat. Nakikita yan, lahat yan naka-video. Nakikita nila yan.”
If ever the Texters find their weakness, Austria said he is ready for a counterattack.
“Kung maga-adjust sila, maga-adjust kami,” Austria said. “We have to be ready. Kailangan pag-aralan mong mabuti. The good thing with our team is matagal na magkakasama, so pagka merong mga adjustment, sila-sila na ang naga-adjust sa loob.”
SMB star Arwind Santos hinted it’s their defense they need to polish after letting Jayson Castro score 27 points and Kellly Williams add 24 markers.
“Hindi komo nanalo kami, sobrang perfect na kami,” Santos said. “Syempre, una yung depensa, ipulido pa namin yung depensa namin. Yun lang naman.
“Si coach Leo, may mga preparation din naman at may ginagawang plays para kahit papaano manibago rin sila sa mga ginagawa namin.”
