“After our talk at halftime, I emphasized us playing defense,” said Magnolia coach LA Tenorio. “We had a slow start offensively but I think defensively, we were on track in the first half. I still emphasized it in the second half.
"We can score anytime, but the question is can we get a stop?”
The Hotshots also got big games from Zavier Lucero, Rome Dela Rosa, and veteran Paul Lee in dealing the Dyip a second straight defeat after a 3-0 start to the import-laden midseason conference.

Zavier Lucero had 13 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks for the Hotshots, who went on an 11-1 finish to the third quarter to seize control, 62-56, and an 8-1 blast to start the fourth to claim a 68-57 advantage.
The Hotshots also put the clamps on former teammate Jerrick Ahanmisi, who still scored 21 points but had to earn every basket as he shot 7-of-20 from the field and 2-of-10 from threes.
Dyip import Mubashar Ali had 18 points and 18 rebounds, but was only 1-of-6 from threes.
Dela Rosa had 11 points and six rebounds, while Mark Barroca and Jerom Lastimosa had nine and seven assists, respectively, while Lee tallied eight points, three rebounds and three assists and finished the game for the Hotshots.
Terrafirma was still up, 42-35, in the second quarter but lost steam as Magnolia got momentum in closing the first half with five straight points. The Dyip were outscored 22-14 in the third quarter and never recovered.
