MERALCO employees and fans rallied behind the Bolts by paying a surprise visit during practice on the eve of Game Six of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals against Ginebra on Wednesday night.

What started as a light practice ended up as an impromptu fans’ day as the Bolts obliged to photo requests when the fans were allowed to enter the court.

Meralco coach Norman Black and some players even gave short speeches thanking the fans for their support

“Biglaan lang ‘to,” team manager Paolo Trillo said. “Usually closed door kami (to the fans), pero pinagbiyan last minute at kumalat na lang.”

Cliff Hodge, Jonathan Uyloan, Kelly Nabong, and Jimmy Alapag were the last ones to leave as they granted fans’ requests for autographs and photo ops.

“It’s great to see the whole company supporting us,” Hodge said ahead of the 7 p.m. encounter where the Bolts seek to extend the series to a deciding game.

“No (it wasn’t a distraction),” the Bolts’ energizer bunny insisted. “We’ve been locked in this whole series.”
