CJAY Perez is in Greece for a much-needed vacation before the grind begins for him in San Miguel’s build-up for the 50th Season of the PBA.
The R&R is also an opportunity for Perez to completely heal from the ankle sprain he sustained during the Gilas Pilipinas campaign in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025.
Perez’s agent PJ Pilares bared how prior to the vacation, the San Miguel star was still wearing a boot to protect his feet after he sustained a high ankle sprain during the FIBA Asia Cup.

“Tinanggal na niya ‘yung walking boot niya. Kasi may swelling pa rin,” said Pilares of Perez, who injured his ankle during Gilas Pilipinas’ game against Saudi Arabia last August 12.
After the Saudi Arabia contest, Perez sat out the rest of the tournament and didn’t play during Gilas Pilipinas’ quarterfinal loss to eventual three-time champion Australia.
But Perez is now on his way to recovery and is expected to be ready when he goes back to Manila to join the Beermen’s build-up for the coming season.
“Twice na siya nagpa-MRI. Sa kanya kasi, paloob. Pero okay na. Nakuha ko na ‘yung results last Monday,” said Pilares.
The good thing is that the start of the 50th season will still be on October 5 where the Philippine Cup will commence, giving Perez enough time to heal from the badly-injured ankle.
San Miguel will come in the 50th season as the defending champion since the PBA will go back to tradition where the Philippine Cup will serve as the opener.
Perez played a big role in closing out the Philippine Cup finals series during the 49th season when he had 24 points in the Beermen’s 107-96 win over TNT in Game 6 last July 25.
