CJ Cansino officially joined reigning PBA Philippine Cup champion Meralco after coming to terms with the franchise on Monday.

The Bolts gave a two-year deal to the UAAP champion player out of University of the Philippines, who was the team’s first round pick (no. 9 overall) in the recent draft.

The team had to defer the signing of the rookie forward as it just came from a brief sojourn in Hong Kong as part of its incentive for winning the franchise’s first ever championship in Asia’s pioneering pro league.

Team governor Atty. Bill Pamintuan and Meralco team manager Paolo Trillo were present during the contract signing of Cansino, who was accompanied by his representative Charlie Dy of VP Global Athlete and Artist Management.

At the same time, he expressed gratitude to the UP management and community led by coach Goldwin Monteverde, Gov. Jonvic Remulla, and Robina Gokongwei for their guidance and all-out support through his journey to get to the PBA.
