TITAN Ultra continued to collect players at its disposal as it just signed rookie CJ Austria for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The former La Salle stalwart agreed to a one-year deal with the Giant Risers, who selected him in the second round at no.16 overall in the recent Season 50 draft.
Austria skipped Titan Ultra’s league debut in the season-opener Philippine Cup as he played out his remaining contract with the Abra North Weavers, allowing him to win an MPBL championship with the franchise.
No less than team owner Bryann Calantoc and team governor Emil Tiu were around to formally welcome Austria to the organization.
But his signing further expanded the roster of the Giant Risers, who received three added players in Rey Suerte, King Caralipio, and another rookie in Mark Omega when they traded Calvin Abueva to Converge.
Titan Ultra likewise extended Mark Sangco to a one-conference contract after coming on board late in the Philippine Cup eliminations.
Sangco – formerly of Saint Benilde – was a third round pick (no. 28) by the team.
Staying as part of the Giant Risers’ core are Joshua Munzon, Cade Flores, Fran Yu, Jerrick Balanza, Aljun Melecio, Ato Ular, Damie Cuntapay, Von Pessumal, Jeo Ambohot, Pao Javillonar, and Aris Dionisio.
Also with the team are Mario Barasi, James Martinez, Roi Sumang, Kobe Monje, and Arvie Bringas.
Still waiting in the wings is veteran big man Greg Slaughter, whose rights still belongs to Titan Ultra.
The Giant Risers likewise have to leave a roster spot for their import in the second conference.
Austria is among the rookies expected to make their respective debuts in the mid-season tournament along with Geo Chiu (Terrafirma), Jason Brickman (Meralco), Will Gozum (Phoenix), Jun Roque (Rain or Shine), and Vince Magbuhos (Meralco). Deo Cuajao (Rain or Shine) and Joshua David (Rain or Shine).
