GINEBRA may have achieved its first back-to-back wins in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, but coach Alfrancis Chua stressed this is not the time yet to celebrate.
“We just have to keep on winning, medyo mahaba-haba pa ito,” he said after the Kings brought down Talk `N Text Tropang Texters, 107-100, in a significant win fashioned out before a crowd of 16,082 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Kings have now won three of their last four games and improved to a 3-5 (win-loss) record in a tie with Air21 and Barako Bull.
While the team is still in the lower half of the standings, Chua is just grateful the Kings have risen from the cellar after starting the conference by losing their first three games of the tournament.
“At least we’re no longer in the cellar,” he said. “Pero as I’ve said, mahaba-haba pa ito, pero dikit-dikit naman kami.”
Ginebra has also beaten the two conference champions in the league one after the other – Talk `N Text (Philippine Cup) and defending Commissioner’s Cup title holder San Mig.
“Dalawang isda nay un. Dalawang malaking isda,” said Chua when informed about the feat.
