BACOLOD - Team Japeth won't be having the benefit of playing with its top pick.
Christian Standhardinger will be skipping the PBA All-Star festivities this weekend after calling sick prior to the departure of the delegation for the City of Smiles on Thursday.
The Fil-German big man of Barangay Ginebra had been vomiting and was not feeling well, according to deputy commissioner Eric Castro.
No replacement for Team Japeth
Since the advisory came too late, his slot at Team Japeth won't be replaced during the main All-Star game.
Japeth Aguilar selected Standhardinger with the first overall pick during the All-Star drafting.
He is the third member of the team that won't be seeing action after Barangay Ginebra teammate Scottie Thompson and Tyler Tio of Phoenix.
His place in the Skills Challenge (Obstacle Course) however, will be taken by Ginebra rookie Ralph Cu.
The absence of Standhardinger, Thompson, and Tio left Team Japeth with just 12 players in Paul Lee, Calvin Oftana, Jamie Malonzo, Chris Newsome, Don Trollano, Marcio Lassiter, Arvin Tolentino, Roger Pogoy, Stanley Pringle, Terrence Romeo, and Aris Dionisio.
Pogoy and Dionisio were late additions as substitutes to Tio and Thompson.
Team Mark remains solid
Meanwhile, Team Mark remains solid with its 14-man roster composed of seven-time MVP June Mar Fajardo, Jason Perkins, CJ Perez, Robert Bolick, Jio Jalalon, Ian Sangalang, James Yap, Calvin Abueva, Jayson Castro, Gabe Norwood, Ricci Rivero, Cliff Hodge, Juami Tiongson, and Nards Pinto.
Tim Cone will call the shots for Team Japeth, while Jorge Gallent is in charge with Team Mark.
