CHRIS Tiu finished with a career-high 30 points in perhaps his final game as a pro as Rain or Shine beat NLEX, 107-101, on Saturday in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Tiu sizzled for the Elastopainters in a game that could possibly be his final game as he has been hinting about retirement at the end of the season.
Tiu’s effort improved Rain or Shine’s mark to 3-8 to end its season on a winning note.
Tiu scored 17 points in the second half as the Elastopainters, who played without an import in the game, came storming back from a 16-point deficit in the contest. His back-to-back baskets put Rain or Shine up, 54-53, on its way to an 82-74 lead at the end of the third period.
The former Ateneo cager erupted again in the fourth quarter as he hit a triple to give Rain or Shine a 97-78 lead in the final period.
“At the end of the day, Chris played his hearts out. Maybe he might be retiring. With 30 points, maybe he should not retire. Decision niya ‘yun. This game is for Chris,” said Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia.
