Twitter on fire after Guiao-Ross trash talk, but Jericho Cruz quick to issue denial

SAN Miguel’s 109-98 win over NLEX in the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday was overshadowed by the many altercations on the court, especially the verbal tussle between Beermen guard Chris Ross and Road Warriors coach Yeng Guiao sparked allegedly by the use of a racial slur.

The incident naturally sparked debate on social media, with some basketball personalities seemingly amused with the number of confrontations in the ill-tempered game signaling the return to old glory for the PBA.

Guiao’s former ward in Rain or Shine guard Jericho Cruz was quick to post his amusement, which was criticized online. The Elasto Painters rising star was quick to issue his denial.

Others however were straightforward with their comments, including retired pro Ali Peek and TNT assistant coach Josh Reyes who both liked the edge returning to the league.

Ginebra forward Joe Devance took the issue in stride.

While on Saturday, Ross’ teammate Matt Ganuelas-Rosser had a more serious tone in addressing the racial slur issue.

Alab Pilipinas star Bobby Ray Parks Jr. was also somber in his post, asking for racism not to be tolerated in any league.
