A lucky lady fan got a perfect gift from San Miguel Beer guard Chris Ross as the world celebrated International Women’s Day.
Ross gave the hysterical fan at ringside with a big hug and a buzz after he almost fell over her while trying to chase a loose ball during the Beermen’s 121-111 victory over the NLEX Road Warriors Friday night in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Even as Ross tried to control himself, his momentum carried him atop the railing underneath the goal and right smack onto where the lady fan was sitting.
To soften the impact, Ross immediately hugged the lady when he landed. And then after seeing that she was fine, the San Miguel playmaker proceeded to give her a kiss on the cheek.
“She was so scared I thought she was going to have a heart attack,” said a smiling Ross after the incident.
“I was over her. She thought I was going to fall on her,” he added. “She was screaming on top of her lungs, so I just tried to calm her down.”
And what a way for him to compose the lady than to give her a ‘tender, loving care.’
“I just hug her. And I gave her a kiss, too,” added Ross.
Asked what the lucky fan looked like, the veteran guard didn’t mince a word.
“All women are beautiful,” he said.
Ross finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in the Beermen’s third straight win that catapulted the defending champions to solo third place behind Phoenix and Rain or Shine.
His all-around game by the way, came on the eve of Ross’ 34th birthday.
