THERE seems to be no end to Petron's injury woes.

The Blaze Boosters' banged-up roster was further depleted over news that newly acquired Chris Ross had strained his hamstring during a 77-63 win over three-time PBA Philippine Cup champion Talk ‘N Text over the weekend.

Ross, acquired by Petron in a trade with Barako Bull during the offseason, has skipped Petron's practice on Monday and is doubtful for the game against sister team San Mig on Wednesday.

That should pose a big problem for the Boosters who will be left with only Paolo Hubalde in the point guard position since Alex Cabagnot and Chico Lanete are also out injured.

Aside from Ross, Cabagnot (torn plantar), and Lanete (hamstring), reserve guard Ronald Tubid (knee) and newly acquired big man Yousef Taha (knee) are also on the injured list for Petron.

Still, Petron team consultant Todd Purves continues to stick to the positives, saying the injuries open up chances for other players in the team's bench to step up.

“We’re gonna be resilient when it comes to going through adversity, whether that’s dealing with injuries or tough schedules,” Purves told Spin.ph on Monday.

“Injuries are part of basketball so this would be an opportunity for others to step up.”

Ross has been holding the fort well for his fourth team since joining the league in 2009, averaging 4.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals in 30 minutes of play.

Petron is currently tied with Barangay Ginebra and surprise package Barako Bull at the top of the standings with identical 2-0 win-loss cards in the PLDT myDSL-Philippine Cup.
