SAN Miguel point guard Chris Ross was awarded Best Player of the Conference on Wednesday before Game Four of the PBA Commissioner's Cup finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Ross bested teammates Alex Cabagnot and June Mar Fajardo as well as TnT star Jayson Castro and GlobalPort's Stanley Pringle for the top individual award.
He is only the second SMB guard to win the award after Allan Caidic brought home the highest individual honor in the 1995 Governors' Cup.
The cat-quick guard amassed 1038 points, while Cabagnot placed second in the race with 746. He averaged 13.19 points, 5.19 rebounds, 8.06 assists, and 2.94 steals.
Castro came in third (630), while Fajardo and Pringle wound up fourth (530) and fifth (415), respectively.
Charles Rhodes took home the Best Import honors.
The SMB import emerged as the top reinforcement after garnering 1174 points, 241 ahead of Star Hotshots reinforcement Ricardo Ratliffe.
Ginebra's Justin Brownlee had 706 while Joshua Smith got 536.
