CHRIS Newsome crowned his first-ever PBA championship by emerging as the Philippine Cup PBA Press Corps-Honda Finals MVP on Sunday night.
The veteran Fil-Am was the unanimous choice for the honor after averaging 22.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in the title series that ended after the Bolts pulled off a thrilling 80-78 win in Game 6 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Newsome finished with 15 points, nine coming in the final period including a clutch fallaway jumper with 1.3 seconds left for the game-winning basket for Meralco shortly after June Mar Fajardo tied the score with a broken-play trey.
The Gilas Pilipinas stalwart beat out Cliff Hodge, Chris Banchero, and Allein Maliksi for the honor.
