MISSING in action for a while now, Chris Lutz blew into town this week and raised speculations of a possible return in the PBA.
The Fil-Am guard posted a photo on Instagram showing him with former teammate and fellow Smart Gilas Pilipinas member Marcio Lassiter along with the children of the San Miguel gunner.
Marvin Espiritu, who represents Lutz, confirmed that the 34-year-old Purdue and Marshall University product is currently in the country for a brief break and will return to the US by the end of the month.
The player agent said he's set to meet with Lutz before he goes back home.
"We will sit down one of these days and see what his plans are," said Espiritu.
Before going on semi-retirement, Lutz was acquired by Meralco from the unrestricted free agent list where San Miguel left him unprotected after sitting out for almost a season due to an assortment of injuries.
Lutz still had a year left in his contract when the Bolts gambled on him, but never got to suit up for the team.
He later decided to fly back to the U.S. and seek treatment.
A first-round pick at No.3 overall by Petron (San Miguel) in the 2011 draft, Lutz was an integral part of the team that won the first of five straight Philippine Cup titles in 2015.
He would win two more championships with the franchise before injuries slowed him down during the 2016 season.
Before turning pro, Lutz was among the top guns for Serbian coach Rajko Toroman in the original Smart Gilas national team along with the likes of Lassiter, Mark Barroca, Chris Tiu, Jayvee Casio, RJ Jazul, Japeth Aguilar, Aldrech Ramos, among others.
