ANOTHER week, another ligang labas violation.
Phoenix Super LPG reserve forward Chris Lalata became the latest PBA player to fall foul of the rule against playing in unsanctioned tournaments as he was hit with a P50,000 fine by the Commissioner's Office.
Lalata violation
The 6-foot-4 former Olivarez College standout appeared before Commissioner Willie Marcial last week, days after photos of him playing in a pocket tournament in Mindoro made the rounds on social media.

League sources said Lalata was paid not even a fourth of the PBA penalty for the 'ligang labas' game.
Lalata accepted the invitation as a favor to friends, league insiders added.
Converge terminates Mac Tallo contract
He ended up paying the league-standard penalty for 'ligang labas' violations, just weeks after Cebuano guard Mac Tallo was hit with a P100,000 fine for playing in the Sinulog Cup back home without the PBA and his mother team's permission. Tallo's contract was also terminated by the Fuel Masters.
Worse, the No. 16 pick of the 2022 PBA draft will also have to deal with repercussions from his mother team Phoenix, where the one-year contract extension he signed in May 2023 expires in three months' time.
