A fractured left hand sidelined Chris Banchero in Alaska’s PBA Philippine Cup game against Blackwater on Sunday.
The Fil-Italian guard showed up in street clothes at the Smart Araneta Coliseum during the curtain raiser of the double-header that also featured the TnT Katropa-Star main game.
Banchero said the hand won't be operated but will need a couple of weeks of rest for it to completely heal.
"A couple of weeks probably. I just need to rest it," he said after the Aces' 103-100 loss to the Elite.
The injured hand was the same one he hurt during the Aces’ encounter against the Tropang Texters last December 23.
During the game which Alaska lost, 109-100, Banchero accidentally poked Jayson Castro near the right eye while trying to steal the ball from the TnT playmaker. His hand was later packed in ice after suffering a sprain, according to team officials.
Banchero was able to play in the team’s first game for 2017, logging in 34 minutes in a 97-90 overtime win against Star. He finished with six points, six rebounds, and six assists, but committed six turnovers and was 1-of-5 from the field.
It was during the game against the Hotshots when he re-injured the hand, resulting in a fracture.
"It healed already, but had it re-injured against Star," said the Alaska guard.
