CHRIS Banchero has been slapped with a P20,000 fine for his hit on Ian Sangalang in Game Five in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup Finals last Friday.
The Alaska guard elbowed the Magnolia forward at the 2:02 mark of the second quarter when they were jostling for position on a rebound play.
Sangalang fell to the floor as the referees failed to call a foul on Banchero.
But he did not escape the eyes of the league's technical committee who ruled a foul on the Fil-Italian guard upon further review.
Magnolia hung on and took the 79-78 victory and moved a win away from claiming the title, which the Hotshots can wrap up in Game Six is on Wednesday at Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Ironically, Banchero was also in the thick of the controversy that led to Magnolia guard Mark Barroca being fined P50,000 in the previous game of the best-of-seven finals.
