TNT coach Chot Reyes was called for a technical foul for complaining to the referees in the second quarter of the Tropang 5G’s quarterfinal game against Magnolia on Wednesday.
Reyes was given a ‘T’ during the 36.9-second mark of the second quarter after complaining to the referees following a rebound play by Calvin Oftana and William Navarro knocking the ball away.
Referees signalled that the ball was off Oftana, but Reyes claimed otherwise. Reyes was so furious about the call that he kicked a chair at the TNT bench.

The 11-time PBA champion said he was upset with the non-calls during the first half, calls which he felt were necessary at that point of the game.
TNT was also trailing 40-37 during the juncture of the contest.
“Sometimes you have do those things to fire up not only the players but to really let the officials also know how displeased we were with several non-calls,” Reyes said.

Despite his feelings about the officiating, at least, before his technical foul, Reyes said he didn’t lose sight about the game itself.
TNT eventually won the game, 89-88, after coming back from a 13-point deficit, 50-37, in the third period.
“But I’ve been around long enough to know not to lose my composure. Sa tagal ko ba naman dito, nag-kahig kahig na ako dito sa PBA, I know that I can have outburst of emotion like that but what I’ve learned over the years is to coach through that and to make sure that my thinking and my thought process is still very clear,” said Reyes.
“I just wanted to really make a point at that moment in the second quarter,” he said.
