THE management of NLEX has denied speculation that former Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes is being considered for a future spot in their coaching staff.
NLEX team manager Ronald Dulatre said there is no such move to bring in Reyes in any capacity in a team that has not a serious run in the PBA playoffs since acquiring the franchise of Air21.
The Road Warriors' current coach is Boyet Fernandez.
“Walang ganyan,” said the soft-spoken Dulatre. “Walang nakakarating sa akin (na ganyang balita), siguro naman sasabihin nila (big bosses) if ever may ganyang move.”
Even NLEX team governor Ramoncito Fernandez was quick to laugh off the rumor.
With eight PBA championships tucked under his belt, Reyes has been away from coaching since leading Gilas Pilipinas in the Fiba World Cup in Spain and the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
Reyes, 51, is currently the head of TV5's sports and digital divisions and made it clear he has no plan to return to coaching - at least not in the near future.
"Hahaha ... not at all," Reyes said in a text message when asked about a possible return to coaching by way of NLEX.
The former national coach said he isn't doesn't even feel the itch at this time.
"Not at all," he said. "Dami rin kasi ginagawa e."
