CHOOKS TO Go’s PBA plans will have to take a little while longer.

Top honcho Ronald Mascarinas disclosed he’s setting aside at the moment the his plans of putting up his own team that will be competing in Asia’s first ever paly-for-pay league.

Mascarinas stressed the focus of Bounty Agro Ventures Inc., the mother company of the largest roasted chicken retail business in the country, is to strengthen its partnership with Gilas Pilipinas.

“The last few months of our association with the Gilas team, I came to the realization that it is best for us to put all our resources and effort behind the national team kaysa basagin pa yun with another PBA team,” said Mascarinas, president and general manager of the company.

Just before sponsoring Gilas Pilipinas’ campaign in the last FIBA Asia Cup in Lebanon last August, Mascarinas bared his intention of acquiring a PBA ballclub as he hinted being in talks with an active franchise about buying the team ownership.

He said if negotiations prospered, there is the possibility of Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. owning a team in the pro league by year’s end.

It appears the plan will have to be put on the back burner for a while.

Mascarinas said Chooks To Go is very happy with its current partnership with the national team, an alliance forged almost a year ago, and which he intends to further expand especially with Gilas Pilipinas’ coming bid in the FIBA World Cup qualifier.

“So far, so good. We’re happy with the turnout. The brand has benefited from its association with the national team,” added Mascarinas.

“We have a four-year commitment with the Gilas national team, and we’re really happy to be part of the Gilas campaign,” he said.
