THE head of Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. said on Wednesday plans to acquire a PBA franchise that will carry the Chooks To Go brand are right on track.
Ronald Mascarinas said talks are underway for the acquisition of a ballclub in the pro league, expressing confidence that the company will have its own PBA team before the year ends.
"We're talking to some people and mukhang may linaw naman and there's a possibility na maybe towards the end of the year we'll have a PBA team," Mascarinas said.
Although he declined to give out any names, Mascarinas said they're in talks with more than just one team in the pro league.
"Meron ng kwan, may positive development. Nasa initial stages pa lang, pero there are teams na interested," said Mascarinas during the sendoff for the Chooks To Go-backed Philippine team to the Fiba 3x3 World Cup in Nantes, France.
Talks of the poultry giant entering the pro-ranks have grown louder ever since Chooks To Go came out to be the chief backer of Gilas Pilipinas.
Chooks To Go is committed to support Gilas until 2020, but that doesn't mean its bid to field a team in the PBA is taking a backseat.
"We are committed to continue supporting (the national team) for as long as it is necessary," Mascarinas said. "But of course, given the passion of the organization sa basketball, we're really on the lookout for a possible acquisition ng PBA team."
