ANTIPOLO – Magnolia coach Chito Victolero has appealed for consistency from the referees, saying a rant made by Alaska coach Alex Compton about officiating of Game Two has turned the calls in their favor.
Victolero complained on Sunday that most of the calls were in favor of Alaska’s side as a result of Compton’s statement after a Game Two loss that Magnolia’s guards were getting away with a lot of fouls.
“Coach Alex did a good job of calling the attention of the referees the last game. I think nakuha na niya ‘yung attention of the referees doon sa sinasabi niya na my guards keep on fouling and my guards are playing dirty.
“The referees are not calling on our side and the referees are calling on their side,” said Victolero.
Victolero also belied Compton’s statements that Magnolia guards are getting away with foul calls in the PBA Governors Cup Finals.
“I kept on reviewing the tapes. Wala namang ginagawang masama ‘yung mga players ko and I think I don’t know what the referees are seeing kung ano ‘yung fouls na ginagawa,” said Victolero.
Victolero said Alaska was the one which got the breaks from the referees.
“For this game, Alaska players are holding my players and they don’t call a foul. I don’t know what the referees are doing for the next game, but I want [them] to be consistent. ‘Yun lang naman ang request ko before the start of the series - consistency,” said Victolero.
