BY the time Star Hotshots take their pick late in the first round of the PBA Rookie Draft, most of the coveted rookies would have been called up on stage.

But Star coach Chito Victolero doesn't mind.

After all, outside the more celebrated rookie prospects like Christian Standhardinger and Kiefer Ravena, there are a slew of talented players the Hotshots can choose from with the No. 9 overall pick come Sunday at the Robinsons Place Manila.

"Medyo late pick kami pero I think makakakuha naman kami ng magandang talent," Victolero said.

Asked what they are looking for with their pick, Victolero gave no names and instead shared that what they want is someone who is tailor-fit for their system that puts premium on defense.

"Syempre kung sino yung sa tingin kong papasok sa system ko plus yung talent," he said. "Hopefully maabutan namin yung tinitingnan namin."

Pressed to name someone who caught their attention in the draft combine, Victolero insisted they will pick the "best talent available na fit sa system."
