LITTLE by little, Converge has put on the coaching pieces just two days since parting ways with former mentor Aldin Ayo.
After naming Franco Atienza as interim coach and Rajko Toroman as active consultant, the FiberXers have added Charles Tiu as part of their coaching staff.
Converge team governor Archen Cayabyab confirmed the appointment of Tiu to SPIN.ph on Saturday.
Tiu is coming off a championship stint with the Strong Group Athletics after ruling the 2024 Jones Cup basketball tournament in Taipei, where incidentally, Toroman also acted as consultant.
The brother of former PBA player Chris Tiu currently calls the shots for the St. Benilde College in the NCAA.
He is the only addition so far to the FiberXers' coaching staff after the team amicably let go of Ayo and deputy McJuir Luib.
Retained as deputies who will now work together with Tiu are two-time MVP Danny Ildefonso, Karl Santos, and Willie Miller.
Tiu once served as part of the Meralco coaching staff under Norman Black, but eventually left the franchise as he began concentrating on his job at St. Benilde, which he led to an NCAA runner up in Season 98 behind champion Letran Knights.
